New — Online Training Mode ★ New Trade Courses
Build Skills.
Build Your Future.
Build Our Nation.
Melanesian Training College delivers nationally recognised trade, technical and business qualifications from our Togoba campus in Mt Hagen — with day, boarding and online study open to school leavers, non-school leavers and working adults.
Trades & Technical
Learn a trade
with your hands.
Six trades at National Certificate Level 1 — electrical fitting, motor vehicle, diesel heavy equipment, carpentry, auto electrical and plumbing — with Level 2 available in the first three. Six months per level, day or boarding.
Industry Placement
Training that leads
straight to work.
Our students train with real employers. Placements with companies like Digitec and Vodafone put the skills to work before graduation — and put our graduates in front of the people who hire.
Online Training Mode
Study from your own province.
Five courses delivered through the MTC LMS — materials, assessments and tutor support online, at your own pace. The same standards we hold our Togoba students to, without leaving home or your job.
“Our 2027 applications are now open as we take this time to review and appreciate a challenging but successful 2026. We look forward to welcoming our new students for 2027”.
Mr. John Kipla
MTC Principal

Why MTC?
Nationally Recognised
Every qualification is delivered under DHERST Reg. No. 043 — so your certificate is recognised by employers right across PNG. This is important in today's demanding job requirements.
Hands-On Workshops
Trade students spend their time on real engines, real switchboards and real heavy equipment. You learn the job by doing the job, supervised by tradespeople.
Day, Boarding or Online
Live locally and study by day, take a boarding place on campus, or study online from your own province. Every pathway leads to the same recognised qualification.
Now you can study from anywhere in PNG
Alongside our day and boarding programs at Togoba, Melanesian Training College now offers a third way to train: Online Training Mode.
Study through the MTC LMS at your own pace, from your own province, around the job you already have — delivered by the same DHERST registered college.
- No relocation and no boarding fee
- Course materials and assessments in one portal
- Built for working adults and non-school leavers
- Five online courses launching soon
