Who We Are

A college built around the job

Melanesian Training College is a technical and vocational training institution based at Togoba, just outside Mt Hagen in Papua New Guinea’s Western Highlands Province.

We train school leavers, non-school leavers and working adults in the trades and professional skills that PNG employers are actively hiring for — from diesel heavy equipment fitting and electrical work through to accounting, information technology and human resource management.

Everything we teach is delivered under DHERST Reg. No. 043. That means the qualification you finish with is recognised, and it travels with you.

Our campus runs day, boarding and online programs, so students from across the country can study with us regardless of where home is.

What Drives Us

Mission, vision and values

Our Mission

To develop and promote a disciplined workforce — delivering practical, industry-relevant training that produces graduates who are employable, capable and reliable from their first day on the job.

Our Vision

To be a leading Melanesian training institution whose graduates carry the skills, discipline and confidence that build families, communities and the nation.

Our Values

Discipline in how we work. Respect for every student who walks through the gate. Practical excellence over theory alone. And a responsibility to Papua New Guinea’s development.

Our Motto

“To Develop & Promote a Disciplined Workforce”

Discipline is not a slogan on our letterhead. It is the standard we hold students to in the workshop, in the classroom and in the boarding houses — because it is the standard employers hold them to afterwards.

Building Skills. Building Futures. Building Our Nation.
Accreditation

Registered, recognised, respected

Melanesian Training College is registered with the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) as a Higher Technical Education provider, under Registration No. 043.

What that means for you

Our People

Trainers, tutors and support staff

Behind every program is a team of tradespeople, lecturers and administrators who keep the college running and the students supported.

Our trade trainers have worked in the trades they teach. Our business and IT lecturers teach to what a Papua New Guinean employer expects of a graduate. Around them sit the admissions, records, boarding and office staff most students never think about until they need them.

Campus

Togoba, Mt Hagen

Our campus sits at Togoba on the outskirts of Mt Hagen, Western Highlands Province — within reach of the town but with the space a training college needs for workshops, classrooms, grounds and boarding.
