To every student who walks through our gate
Melanesian Training College exists for one reason: to put a skill in your hands that an employer will pay for, and to do it to a standard this country can rely on.
We are a technical and vocational institution at Togoba, on the edge of Mt Hagen in the Western Highlands, registered with the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology under Reg. No. 043. Every qualification we award carries that registration.
Our students come from every part of Papua New Guinea. Some arrive straight from Grade 10 or Grade 12. Many do not — they have been out of school for years, they are already working, or they are returning to study after raising a family. All of them are welcome here, and all of them are held to the same standard once they arrive.
That standard is the point of our motto: to develop and promote a disciplined workforce. Discipline is not a word on our letterhead. It is turning up, finishing what you started, and doing the work properly when nobody is watching. It is the difference between holding a certificate and being worth employing.
If you are considering studying with us, come and see the campus. Talk to our trainers. Ask what our graduates are doing now. We would rather you chose MTC with your eyes open than on the strength of a brochure.
Three things we will not compromise on
The work comes first
Trades are learned with tools in your hands, not from a whiteboard. Our workshops run because that is where the learning actually happens.
Open to everyone
School leavers, non-school leavers, working adults, women and men. Our workshops are open to anyone prepared to do the work.
A qualification that counts
Everything we teach is delivered under DHERST Reg. No. 043, so the certificate you finish with is recognised well beyond our gate.
